Yes. A debit card is not related to a direct debit. A direct debit is your authorisation to your bank to pay whatever amount is requested by whomever the direct debit is in favour of.... a utility company, a service provider or other business.... on a regular basis, usually monthly or yearly. A debit card is a way of paying for individual transactions, on the spot, without using cash. The total can be deducted from your account when the card is processed by the trader.
There isn't one on the debit card itself but if you check your last bank statement, it will be on there; under "Account Details"
No, it is not illegal. And as a rule most companies do I.e Amazon, Play, what is frowmed upon is keeping them longer then needed.
If you are purchasing or placing order for something then you need to give your card details to the vendor and they will able to debit your card and you can make payment over the phone for your purchases.
I'm not sure about ALL prepaid debit cards, but I know that if you buy a prepaid debit card from NetSpend, you can easily track all your purchases (deductions) online at any time. Check out the link below for more details on prepaid debit cards.
This depends on what company you have your reloadable debit card through. I would check with the company directly regarding any questions concerning your debit card.

No Debit card takes money straight away from bank account. Credit card makes a debt on card company, not your bank - then later the bank (or person) pays card company, plus interest sometimes.
Only if you have authorized them to do so.
The difference between a credit card and a debit card is a debit card is for money that you place in your own bank account that can be withdrawn with a personal pin number. A credit card company lends the person money and charges interest.
