I know that you are asking about dating and that doesn't mean Sex; but you have to consider the possibility of it and the laws that apply to this gap of age. In the case of a 17 year old dating a 14 year old is illegal because the Law in Connecticut says 16 for consent sex for a female or a male and in this case there is 17 (legally) but involving a 14(he is not legal). And honestly being charge for Statuory rape is a very serious law that in this case will affect the 17 year old. There are no laws regarding dating in any state. There are laws regarding sexual contact with a minor (which are not limited merely to intercourse). They are two different things. If the minor's parents are okay with the two dating, then it's fine (a minor's parents have the right to determine who their child is and isn't allowed to spend time with, so they get to say 'yes' or 'no' to who they date).
