Well, lets call it fraud, which is illegal. It would be grounds for dismissal should the college or university find out. While most institutions do not search for the validity of what the student indicates - in terms of prior schools attended - it can come up in ways students are not aware of. Applying for financial aid or scholarships is just one way. As the saying goes, "honesty is the best policy."
