I read somewhere you can carry a knife 3 inches or shorter and any more and you will need a License to carry it around which sucks cause I'm about to go to cowtown and buy a butterfly knife and I think its 4 inches I feel you there. But yeah there is nothing that says you can't own them just carrying them around just get a ruler and see how big it is

What is the limit of the length of a blade on a knife if you have a license to carry one in Texas?

A CHL license is for handguns only. It does not allow you to carry any other weapon that someone without a CHL license can not carry. You still can not carry on or about your person an illegal knife. An illegal knife is: (A) knife with a blade over five and one-half inches; (B) hand instrument designed to cut or stab another by being thrown; (C) dagger, including but not limited to a dirk, stiletto, and poniard; (double edged) (D) bowie knife; (E) sword; or (F) spear. There are no other weapon carrying license in Texas. You can carry any knife that is not a switchblade (illegal to own) or is not an illegal knife even if you do not have a CHL.

In most states it is not illegal to carry a knife, as long as it is not a knife that is not illegal to carry in public (such as a switchblade knife, butterfly knife, or fixed blade knife). Also a knife should not be concealed, and its blade should not exceed three inches in length. But you should research the relevant laws in your state, as many states laws vary slightly, and sometimes greatly.
