I live in Weastern Australia, and it is not illegal to put a ForSale sign on your car, and if someone approaches you on public road and buys it on the spot, that's not illegal either. But councils get upset if you display it on the verge at an intersection, and leave it there all day, because others start doing it, and soon a makeshift caryard springs up.This happened a few years ago in my neibourhood.
