In other parts of the world, arranged marriages are still common and there can be conflicts when those cultures and habits are brought to Western countries.
Whether or not it is illegal to tell a child who to marry, most jurisdictions have legal principles that allow a marriage contract to be challenged if it was made under duress.
A passing thought:Illegal, no. Irresponsible, perhaps. Good parents do not throw up walls in front of their children; walls are meant to be climbed, and children will climb walls. If you wish for your children to defy you, tell them no. If you wish for your children to make wise choices, encourage them to do so.

I'm aware of that this will put you in trouble with the family but it's your life and you have to make a choice. There are organizations that can help but you have to tell the police if you are not capable of leaving or if they don't take no for an answer. If you are a minor this is also a case for Child Protective Service.
