Each individual state (and sometimes individual counties, cities, and towns) may, and often do, have laws restricting weapons including knives, often specifically mentioning switchblades. Laws often refer to blade lengths and styles to define tools with useful purposes. The definition of a legal knife is often taken in context with the situation. Some states allow police officers to declare any object, screwdriver or broken bottle as an offensive weapon. These state laws differ greatly. Switchblade knives are legal in 28 U.S. States in one way or another for citizens. Switchblade knives are legal in all U.S. states for Military personnel and other qualified individuals.

Why would they? A policemen would need a heavier duty blade-a switch blade simply would not suffice.
It is legal for you to carry an assisted opening knife but not a switchblade. An assisted opening knife does not have a button but does have a spring, you slightly open the knife and then it opens the rest of the way for you.Remember it has to be under 5.5 inches.
In Georgia, ownership of automatic weapons like an AK-47 is legal if you have the appropriate federal license, such as a Class III license issued by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF). Without this license, possession of an automatic weapon is illegal in Georgia.

It is my understanding that the switch blade\automatic knife was made legal in Colorado in the early part of August, 2017More information:Each state has its own regulations about knives. Many permit switchblades, but might specify the maximum length or whether it may be carry concealed or open carry. Please see discussion below for a link summarizing each state's law.
You can't carry a gun in Georgia without a permit.
Yes switchblade's are illegal in Colorado as is any knife that is assisted opening such as a gravity knife like the butterfly knife or is assisted with a spring or lever. This is not completely true. A knife that is "spring assisted" is legal as long as you have to have direct contact with the blade to open it (such as those that have a small nub on the back of the blade, or those that have a thumb nub), while "spring loaded" or "automatic" (as stated above) are illegal. Many knife makers such as Kershaw have spring "assisted" knives that are completely legal in Colorado.
