No. In Massachusetts, it is illegal to carry a switch blade or gravity knives (such as a butterfly knife) it is 100% legal to own them however. You can also carry knives if your a minor. Also there is no size limit, whether the knife is on your person or at home.

But as clarification, a switchblade is a knife that has its blade that expends out of the front or side of the handle by pressing a button or lever. You have to be touching the blade itself to fling it open, even if it is spring assisted.

So basically here is a quick rundown. Anyone with no serious criminal record can carry ANY knife on there person as long as you have to touch the metal part of the blade to open it. Cheers.
