For offroad or racing use, the answer is generally yes. For highway use, the answer depends on the fuel. It must have certain minumums of lead, sulfur and other chemicals in order to be approved for highway use. Another issue is the road tax. You must pay a certain amount of federal and state taxes per gallon of fuel. Your state will also have its own laws governing the use of certain fuels on the road.
