It depends on your area. If you are using legal fireworks and not disturbing your neighbors, it is generally allowed, but check with local laws first.
No where in Houston (with the exception of novelty items - 1.4G are prohibited). The Fire Marshals offise provides maps, regulations and up to date information.
You cant after the fourth
I've been looking for the answer on the Internet for over an hour and the best answer I can find is that it's legal to sell fireworks (safe-and-sane) until noon, July 6, so it should be legal to light them until at least that time. I'm surprised that information on how many days before and after the 4th it's legal to light safe-and-sane fireworks doesn't pop up in search results, no mater how specifically the search term is worded. I have a $40 box of fireworks I bought today and I'm lighting them with my grand kids on Saturday when they visit. Ignorance of the law is one thing, but if a diligent search doesn't find a law against lighting fireworks after the 4th, then maybe there is no law against it. I'm calling the Fire Marshal in the morning. Using the telephone to get an answer to a simple question in the Internet age--Ugh.
