Yes! Preteens, especially girls, become very emotional and moody in the year or so before puberty hits them full force. Often after a girl begins menstruating her hormones regulate and she won't be quite as difficult.

• It is possible your daughter is going into puberty (10 - 12 years of age.) It would be wise to take her to your family doctor to be sure all is well. She probably is just fine. Often young girls going into puberty (perhaps she has started her menstrual cycle already and has not said anything is moody at that present time which you would know from your own experiences from it. Hormones are rampid during this time. If none of this applies to your daughter then sit down with her and communicate and ask her what is wrong. There is a possibility she could be bullied at school; she may have been hurt by her best friend or she has a crush on a boy that may not like her or has said something to hurt her feelings. If she declines to answer and is still extremely moody then you will have to decide if you have spoiled her and not disciplined her enough and she is simply acting out to get her way and you will have no other option, but to put your foot down and get conrol over her. Sometimes saying 'no' helps a young person more than pampering consantly or placating their every whim.
