Yes - sometimes female dogs can have a phantom pregnancy where their body acts as if it is pregnant when in reality it is not. This can result in milk production and usually the dog's belly will swell, she may begin acting differently too. She may show nesting behaviour where she tries to find a suitable place to have her 'puppies'
She also may begin to treat her toys as though they are puppies.
If your dog is showing these signs I recommend taking her to a vet to check that she definitely is not pregnant and to get advice about how to deal with phantom pregnancies.
Yes, they can. I have a 7 year old shih tzu...she's still intact. She had puppies 3 years ago. We have a male shih tzu as well but he's fixed. We have a 6 1/2 month old kitten that has been suckling off of our female since we got her. Yesterday while holding the dog I found out that she is lactating. She's not pregnant so the only reason I can come up with is because our cat/kitten has been sucking on her so much that she eventually got milk.
Weird; yes, I know. So that's proof that yes a female dog can lactate without being pregnant.
All dogs and cats are lactose intolerant so I wouldn't.
Yes, there has been cases like this. The dog will be ok. If you are worried take the dog to see a vet.
yes they do
Between 50 and 57 days of pregnancy.
well i guess because humans can sometimes but it depends on genetics most of the time
Yes. Mothers lactate after giving birth.
It will come when the puppy's do.
yes
They aren't as stressed as a normal women giving birth, and they aren't in as much pain as a normal women giving birth. (This question is only asked at Niles West)
yes if youare pregnant....
Giving birth.
no it's not possible to be pregnant for two years without giving birth, but sometimes very few women get to be pregnant for ten month and then give birth (it happens).
She's not pregnant.
no
By giving birth. By miscarriage. By abortion.
I'm not sure whether you mean "give birth" or "become pregnant" Giving birth after Tubal Ligation should be normal and no different than if you hadn't had the procedure. A small number of women (about 1 in 100) become pregnant after Tubal Ligation.
You can become pregnant quite soon after having a baby. Sometimes in as little a month, but that may also be dependant on how soon after giving birth Mum is to resuming normal sexual activity.
No.
Not really. They'll get smaller than when you were pregnant. But will never be quite the same again. Not really. They'll get smaller than when you were pregnant. But will never be quite the same again.
Yes, dogs are mammals. They reproduce through becoming pregnant and giving live birth.
