It is not abnormal for a parent to read a child's diary because parents often want to be sure they know what their children are involved in that might be damaging to them.
On the other hand, many parents think it is a good thing to exercise self-discipline and not read the child's diary
Neither me or my husband would dream of invading our childrens most private thoughts that way! This is going too far. Instead the parent should be working on having a good relationship with the child and RESPECT THEIR PRIVACY which we all have the right to!
