Is it normal for your tongue to be very swollen 2 days after you get it pierced?

I have just had my tongue pierced and it is pretty much completely healed. But I must say I never experienced any gum swelling. This is probably not the best sign, however do not take your tongue bar out if it is only fresh as you are more likely prone to infection this way, leave it in and thoroughly wash your mouth with Rock Salt that has been disolved in boiled water then cooled about three times a day. If your gums keep swelling and hurting contact your piercer and seek advice.

It usually takes 10 - 14 days for the swelling to go down after you get it pierced, so if your tongue is still swollen after a few days that can be normal.

Yes it's normal discharge and will go away in a couple of days.

While its healing, your tongue will swell and you will have a lisp. it isn't permanent though. Only while healing when your tongue is swollen. So don't get it if you'll have to go to work or school in the next few days.

Never worry, it's totally normal. Your ears are somewhat adapting to you piercing since the 'metal' or the earring is a foreign bypasser. If the swelling lasts more that a week, that's weird. (:

That is the normal discharge that occurs from tongue piercing, just like ear piercing discharges after they have been pierced and are healing the tongue does the same sort of thing. That will disappear is a couple of days, just be sure you are rinsing and keeping cold stuff on the piercing as often as possible.

The barbell is a bit too long, but that's due to the swelling. Once the swelling is gone (about 2 weeks) go back and get a shorter barbell, this will relieve the discomfort under your tongue.
