YES!!! the cable to tighten the brakes is pulled by an electric motor. Mine does noise as well, it is perfectly normal.
On my 2002 Passat there is a reset button on the underside of the Windshield washer arm. Pushing that will clear the trip computer settings, per display.
It is a electromagnetic Parking brake button. Press down to disengage and pull up to engage. you should hear a distinctive sound in the process that sounds like a low power electric drill. when the noise goes away after 2 seconds, the parking brake is engaged or disengaged. when engaged, the button will light up in red.
The service wrench button on a VW Passat is on the dash in front of the driver. It is next to the mileage (0.0) button.
There should be a parking brake lever above the parking brake pedal that you pull to disengage the parking brake. It depends on the type you have; if it is a pull-up lever in your center console they can give you a little trouble. Pull it up slightly and while you have upward pressure press and hold the button on the end, than it will drop.
It's the button on the speedo next to the 0.0 button :D
First you need to press the lock/unlock button and hold it for one second. If you hear a chirp and your parking lights flash the system is engaged then. The led panel will flash once per second to show your vehicle is protected by the system. To disengage the protection you need to hold the same button as you previously did for one second. This will disengage the alarm system
It isn't a single part, so removing it would be a problem. If you wish to disengage the handbrake, apply light pressure to the button on the end of the parking brake lever. Lift the lever upwards (there will be some resistance) until the button presses inwards. With the button held in, lower the lever to the floor, then release the button.
mechanical linkage
It will not disengage from four wheel drive until you find a cheat. I have done this before!
The button on the key fob generally does that for you.
There is a button you can press, near handbrake usually.
Its the A/C button for Canadian cars. Or at least for me. If the light by the ECON button is on the A/C is off if the light is off the A/C is off.
