Yes it is normal. We depend on our friends to fulfill our lives and are threatened when we lose a friend. To fear loss is normal. It is reason to suspect foul play if any person is missing for more than 72 hours and warrants investigation from law enforcement by filing a missing persons report.

I was worried when I didn't hear from my friend for a couple of days and then got his messages and I felt much better and knew all was well.
