How does a dog get out of a pool?

If the pool has stairs and the dog is smart enough, he or she will swim it's way. Otherwise you will have to intervene.

Can a miniature longhaired dashund swim?

I personally know of one that is a medium -long mix dapple miniature that wont get out of the pool. My grand children have to lock it out of the pool area. This little dog has been in the pool for more than two hours at a time and when it gets ready, it heads for the stairs and bolts out to play in the yard and then right back. I belive that any dog can swim, and that the extent of the swimming depends on how the dog is introduced to playing in the water.

Can chiuaua swim?

yes chiuauas can swim. I had a pool and i put my dog in the water and he was only about 1 year old. Then automatically he started swimming i was very proud of him. Just make sure that if you put a chiuauaua in water that is deeper so he cant reach the bottom make sure that the dog is supervised or if you put the dog into the pool you should be in the water with the dog if it is the first time your dog tires to swim.

Is a dog swimming in your pool OK for your pool?

A1 Yes as long as it doesn't have any infections, such as fleas, etc. But it should be fine ---- A2 I agree with A1. The dog shouldn't have any infections, diseases, fleas, just as mentioned above. If it does, then the infections or fleas can be spread in the pool, which people will swim in, causing them to be ill. If the dog's fine, people can swim with it, too. If the dog is ill or has fleas, it should at least swim in the pool by itself, for human safety. Speaking of human safety, you should also refill the pool after the dog is done with it, just in case.

Can dogs swim in pools with chlorine?

I don't see why not. My uncle's dog used to swim in a chlorinated pool all the time. Although, he ate human food instead of dog food....maybe he was rare!

Teaching a dog to swim. . . we have a paddling pool and tried tempting her with treats any ideas?

You can't get a dog to swim by giving her a treat to get her going. Many dogs instinctively can swim, but stay close in case your dog can't. If your dog can't, it may not be possible to teach her, but you could work with her to do the movements, or put her with a dog that already swims and she might catch on.

Can dogs swim in Arizona?

Yes they very well can swim anywhere! They all have webbed paws sort of so MOST dogs can swim on their own without any human help! It's quite frankly very fascinating. And if you live in Arizona and have a pool i would recommend you wash the dog before getting him/her in the pool ;)

Is it bad to allow a dog to swim in an in-ground pool with a vinyl liner and a sand filter?

It shouldn't do the system any harm if you let the dog have a swim the only thing is that you may have to keep a closer eye on the hair filter against the pool pump as dogs can leave a lot of hair behind in the water Any animals in a swimming pool with a vinyl liner has the potential to poke holes or rip your liner. I have seen where dogs have torn large size rips in the liner while they were trying to get out. There is a product in my area called a Skamper-Ramp that you could install so your pet always has a safe, easy way out without damaging your swimming pool. == == If you dog is on the large size they should be OK, but always be there for a pet just as you would a child. If the liner is attached and not flopping around it should be fine, and there is no reason a sand filter should bother a dog (however, check with a pool place to be sure.) It's also best to hose your dog down after they swim in the pool because of the chlorine. Many humans do this. The chlorine can irritate some dog's skin. WARNING: When it's time to put the cover on your pool, and if it is not secured by snaps on the sides of the pool, NEVER let kids or your pets near the pool. My own dog bent over an above-ground pool out of curiosity and fell in. Unfortunately, the owners of the pool had a loose cover floating on top. The more my dog tried to swim to safety, the more the plastic cover got wrapped around her legs. Fortunately, I was close by and able to get her out or I would have had one dead pet on my hands.

How to take care of a west highland dog when you have an underground pool?

Although most dogs can learn to swim, it is very important that your dog, of any breed, does not have unsupervised access to a body of water. You need to either fence in the pool area or fence off an area that the dog will be allowed to play in, and not allow him/her in the rest of your yard.

If i let my dog swim in my pool is there any dangerous things that can happen?

Well if your dog has fleas or something then they will be floating around in your pool so you would have to re fill it. Also not all dogs like water so you would have to make sure they wanted to go in first.
