Yes, one can be completed while you have a period. I was rushed to the ER last week due to severe menstrual cramps, heavy bleeding, and passing large clots. A transvaginal ultrasound was done without any problem, even though I was bleeding heavily. It was not painful or as horrible as I imagined it to be. The technician I had was very kind and supportive, which made all the difference.

∙ 13y agoYes, it is okay to have ultrasounds done during your cycle. Ultrasound are really safe which is why they give them to pregnant women all the time. Feel free to get the care you need, and if you ever are truly concerned just ask your doctor before he starts any procedure. They are more than happy to set your mind at ease.
