OK. I am attempting to take a front wheel drive 87 2.8ltr motor from a Bonneville and put it in a 87 s-10 Blazer. That's when I noticed all the differences. First thing I noticed - The Heads are totally different. The heads from the Bonneville are huge compared to the one's from the s-10. The timing cover, water pump and thermostat housing are all diffrent. The intake manifold is to small for the bonneville's heads. The crank has a center weight for the crank sensor, but I asked a GM mech and he said I could use the lower half, as long as I took the balancer and flywheel from the s-10. The GM 2.8 is externally balanced with these components. So, I went from a complete drop in engine to a short block. Now I have a decision to make. do I take a complete motor and strip it down to a short block and put another 300.00 or so for gaskets and a head job, swap the heads and hope they never leak, or sell the 2.8 frnt wheel drive engine and find a rebuilt 2.8ltr for a rear wheel drive. By the way, I bought this rebuilt engine from an aviation mechanic. That makes it even harder to part with.
It doesn't matter that depends if its frontwheel drive of rearwheel drive if the car is 4 wheel drive its not going to get very fast. Rearwheel drives best for speed.
rear wheel drive ( or four wheel drive capable )
No.
No, all firebirds from day one in 1967 are rear wheel drive.
no the es300 is front wheel drive gs is rearwheel drive
All Saturns produced for sale in the U.S. in 1994 are front wheel drive.
Everything is POSSIBLE...but do they want to change? Dave
Anything is possible but the cost incurred would not be worth the effort.
Yes you have to poke it really hard
yes most of them are ******* No. Toyota went from rear to frontwheel drive in 1983 for the 1984 Model year Corolla with the exception of the XR5, which in turn went front wheel drive in 1985
yes you can convert a 2 wd to a 4 wd, but the cost of doing this will exceed the value of the truck.
it is possible, there are companies who are specialised in doing this, doubt you can DIY, because there are no counterpart RHD parts for that car [i think]
