yes it is. there is nothing differant between the outer casing. The only difference is the Ratio's. EG: the ratio's on the MK3 is more for comfort unlike the MK2.All you need to do is make sure that the flywheel is the same....other than that every thing will go smooth.
Yes, I have it done on mine. The MK3 2.0 gearbox fails when it gets to high mileage. The Mk2 1.8 gearbox is bulletproof.
Yes same size
Need more detail... Which mk1 and which mk2? (Year/Engine/Spec/Box type, ie '83 1.8 GTI, Manual) Depends on gearbox fitted to either.
9a gearbox
Yes, a starter motor from a 1.6 will fit a 1.8 and vice versa.
No its different
yes i just put my 8v box on my 16v bolts straight on
No they fit different, although mk2 and mk3 and some mk4 polo gearboxes will fit. You want an 8P gearbox.
57.1
its about 208kmt
Most if not all 4 cylinder VAG engines will fit in a mk2 Golf. However it will be much cheaper to buy a GTI rather than convert a non-GTI model once you factor in ancillary items such as GTI-spec front brakes, rear discs, a change of wiring loom, etc.
yes it can, the reversing sensor and connection just needs moving that's all
