First remove as much excess Vaseline as possible using a spoon to scoop the jelly towards the center of the stain. Apply a commercial cleaning solvent (check for color safeness first) or rubbing alcohol. Allow about 15-30 minutes for the jelly to break down and blot with a clean white cloth. Continue to blot, using a clean spot on the cloth, until no more Vaseline transfers to the cloth. Application of the solvent and blotting may be repeated until no more jelly is able to be removed. Mix one tablespoon Dawn dish detergent with one cup lukewarm water and spray on the area. Blot and repeat as needed. Use plain warm water spray and clean cloth to rinse the detergent residue.
