I'm no mechanic, but my son and I replaced the fuel pump in my 95 Achieva, took about 4 hours to get the tank out and figure the fuel pump out, once the pump was back in it only took about 20 minutes to get the tank back in, pretty simple job.
Unless there is an access panel inside the trunk, then the answer is yes. Sadly, yes. In my 1996 Achieva it cost me about $700 to drop the tank and replace the pump. I was ripped off, I know, but the tank needs to be removed to get to the pump.
Back by the fuel tank itself, look around and it is easy to get and replace
the battery is under the gas tank and really hard to replace. good lick.
