A mare can carry her foal a little while longer than her due-date. After a few weeks it can get dangerous, and if a month has passed, there should be definite action taken. Just remember horse-gestation is about 11 months!
Not usually. A horse that foals a month early could give birth to a premature foal.
The mother horse may kick at anything that she views as a threat to her foal. She may put herself between her foal and anything dangerous, creating a barrier. She may herd her foal to a place that she feels is safe. When the foal is very young she will not let it get out of her sight, if the foal should get out of her sight she will panic until she sees it again. She generally will not let any humans touch her foal when it is very young.
She may not be too old to be pregnant, but it is not safe to breed a 23 year old arabian. The foal and the mare may die during the pregnancy. If you are planning to do this, I want you to take my advice and do not try to do this if you want her to live much longer.
Normally you can't carry them, but if it is already having a foal, you must call the vet. If it is going to have a foal soon, bring it slowly to where you are going, for they are very slow, they cannot participate in anything until they have a foal and raise the foal. So be very careful, they are like fragile ornaments during that time. To be safe, wear normal riding tack (usually it works -smile-) and slowly lead the mare to the destination. Remember, don't try to disturb it while it is having a foal, call the vet straight away, no time to lose.
When a horse is having its foaling, you will need a clean and safe foaling area, clean towels or rags to help dry the foal, iodine or disinfectant for the foal's navel, a flashlight for visibility, and a contact number for a veterinarian in case of any complications. It's important to observe from a distance and avoid interfering unless necessary.
She doesn't exactly train her foal like a human would, however a mare is responsible for teaching a foal that humans are safe to be around and how and what to eat, etc. But really, it's all down to the person or people who raise the mare to train a foal to accept various tools like the halter and lead, the lunge line, various gaits, etc.
If you send your horse there, you will get 400 equus and the horse will no longer be in your possession. You can go to the safe haven once a day to stroke a horse to win an apple, equus, etc. Hope this helped!
they give it milk and keep it safe
In the first 10 days to 2 weeks after foaling, a mare will usually go into what is called a 'foal heat'. This is her first heat cycle after giving birth. The hormones from the mare are passed on through the milk and the foal can get diarrah or what is commonly called 'the scourers'. It is unsightly but usually not a health problem for the new foal. What worked for my babies was 1 or 2 doses of a probiotic. You can find this at your local feed or tack store, or go online and order from a horse supply catalog. The commercial name is Probias (that's the brand I used). Probiotics are pretty safe and will reestablish the foal's flora and fauna in his gut.
On howrse, no. Well, you can but you'll never get a unicorn foal from it.
A mare takes the foal and keeps it safe until its 8 months old then it can take care of its self. the mare makes sure no horse will hurt it and the mare feeds it:)i hope i could help!!
