Sure they can live outside, but you have to understand that there are other animals and elements that can harm or kill them - even more so when they are little baby bunnies. Remember, rabbits are prey. My bunny was a rescue and lived in between my yard and my neighbors yard because neither of us could keep him inside, but she found him dead in her pool yesterday. She thinks that he was trying to run from a cat. I am heartbroken. I will have more bunnies someday, but not until I can keep them safely inside.

Of course they can! Supplied with a good big hutch and run they can enjoy the outside in a safe environment. They will need a cover for the hutch so that it will keep them safe and dry in their home and and their large run will need an area where they can get out of the wet or windy weather. My two rabbits love it out. As long as you have the right equipment your rabbits will be happy. Hope I helped answer your question!

Yes, assuming you have a solidly built rabbit hutch which is strong enough to protect from both predators and the weather, and keep your rabbits from getting out on their own. Otherwise, it may not be a good idea. Domestic rabbits are prey animals with no natural instincts of how to care for themselves in the wild. They are easy targets for cats, dogs, and wildlife, and are unable to distinguish safe plants to eat. Yes, my cousin has one and it will grow huge!!!! By the way never have any holes in your fence or your rabbit will run away.

Yes, as long as they have a large cage and plenty of food and water. You also should protect them from temperature extremes--they should be in the shade and the cage should be covered and possibly heated during cold weather.

When it comes to where they can live, chinchilla rabbits are no different from other pet rabbits.

There are a lot of risks to letting your rabbit live outside or go outside unsupervised. Some risks include:

  • Weather -- hot temperatures, cold temperatures, direct warm sunlight, and damp and breezy weather can all be dangerous for rabbits
  • Parasites, insects, diseases
  • Chemicals and poisons (herbicides, pesticides)
  • Predators -- cats, dogs, raccoons, weasels, foxes ... pretty much all animals that eat meat like to attack rabbits (even if the rabbit is technically safe behind bars, having a predator stalk around outside the hutch has often caused rabbits to die from shock and fear)
  • Escape -- when a rabbit runs away it isn't making a conscious choice to relocate: pets have lost the instincts of wild animals and they aren't living in their natural habitats, so an escaped rabbit can't take care of itself
  • Isolation -- rabbits are social animals, they don't like to live alone tucked away in a corner; also, it's important to monitor the rabbit's health on a daily level; but when you don't see the rabbit everyday, there's the risk you'll come to neglect it.

Generally, it's easier to protect rabbits against these dangers inside. If you do want to let your rabbits outside, you should take special measures to protect them and keep them safe from the above threats and any others you think of.

This has just been a summary of how to care for rabbits outside. If you want to keep rabbits outside, further research is required. See the related links and questions below for more help.

I want a rabbit and it needs to live outside what rabbit do you recommend?

i recommend you look up a rabbit breeder in a phone book or on the internet. they are usually kept outside. but don't go to a pet store. the best thing would be to get it as a baby, then it will grow to be an outdoor rabbit and will learn to be good around you and a family.

Can you bathe an outside pet rabbit?

Baths can be dangerous for rabbits. Healthy rabbits, including outside ones, keep themselves clean and don't require baths. If your rabbit needs a bath, something is wrong -- either the rabbit is sick and needs a vet, or you should improve the rabbit's living conditions. If you need to bathe a rabbit, follow certain precautions to keep the rabbit safe. See the related question below about bathing rabbits for details and link -- it applies to outside rabbits as well.
