A Professional would say no but i am no professional, i just wanted to make that known. Personally i dont see a problem with driving a vehicle without ABS, My current vehicle never had them eqquiped from the factory. When your ABS sensor is bad your brakes will not become ANTI-lock so if you slam on them at high speed or in slipery conditions you have a very high chance of breaking traction and losing control of your vehicle.
Before abs brakes became standard equipment that was the way we drove our vehicles and we learned how to drive in all types of conditions to maintain control.
bad speed sensor
the ABS sensor is bad.
Safe, yes, smart, no. Damage can occur to the Catalytic Converter.
the light is on for a reason first i would have someone hook up to it with a scanner to find out why it is on. the light could come on by a abs sensor going bad, abs moudle going bad, so you need to find out why it is on, then have them take it out with the scanner. abs is a code and fro some reason it has kicked the light on, so to be safe have it checked out. After the correct repairs have been done, the light will turn itself off after a short drive.
No, an abs sensor will only affect antilock braking.
Bad speed sensor
on a 2000 dodge ram 1500 the abs sensor is located on the rear end above where the drive shaft meets the rear end, if it is bad there will be a brake light on in your dash and may rev high in first gear before shifting into second If it has 4 wheel abs there will be a sensor at each front wheel bearing.
Yes, but your ABS will not function if you should need it.
One of 3 problems: wheel sensor is bad, abs cables, or hubs.
Most problems are a bad wheel sensor, you will have to have the system checked out to see which wheel sensor is bad.
Could be a bad ABS sensor. Needs service/replacement.
No. The loud humming noise could be a wheel bearing going bad and it could damage the ABS sensor if allowed to continue.
