This depends on a lot of things, like how it has been stored (frozen or refrigerated) and how the particular store you bought it from determines the sell by date.

Use your best judgment - if it doesn't smell bad it's probably OK, but if it doesn't smell like fresh pork you are better off just throwing it away.

As long as it is kept frozen or refrigerated, it's probably good for at least a week after its "sell by" date. After all, you probably aren't going to cook it the same day you bought it, right?

As always with pork, cook it thoroughly, and don't prepare it if the meat feels slimy or smells bad.

Enjoy your pork chops!

yes, the date is a guide to it's best taste.24hours is not going to render the pork unfit as long as it is prepared as the label directs.

Days after sell date is it safe to eat cooked and preveiously frazen king crab legs?

Turkey breast sell date 2 days ago is it still good to eat?

If a turkey breast has a sell by date of 2 days ago, it may still be good to eat. The general rule of thumb is that if the turkey is fresh and has been stored unopened in the refrigerator, it will last for up to 2 days past its sell by date.

Is it safe to eat opened liverwurst after the expiration date?

Yes in the US the most common date seen is not the so called expiration date it is a sell by date. There is no expiration date required on US foods, except for infant formula. The USDA has no idea how you plan to store your food. Some food can last for years if stored properly. So think of it like this, could you think of a reason why a store would sell food that is going to expire the same day they sell it.For instance milk is typically good for 7 days after the SELL by date if kept cool.

How do sell by dates keep some food safe?

A sell-by date does not really keep food safe. It protects the processor and store from some liability and loss. For a potentially hazardous food, it would hopefully be sold well before before spoilage takes hold or any pathogens reach a toxic level - but then I'd expect an expiration date, not a sell-by. It is not the sell-by date alone that keeps food safe. It has to be handled and stored properly, too, including after the sale. Sell-by dates are usually guides for quality, not safety.
