Assuming you're talking about a lead-acid (car type) battery, the answer is yes. They get charged while in use anyway.
No, this battery is a maintenance free battery. In fact it probably cannot even be opened to add water.
In a wet acid battery the water should just cover the plates. However, most motorcycle batteries are sealed-for-life and/or gel batteries. They need no maintenance, they should not be opened. Check which type you have fitted.
One place in which a personal account cannot be opened is the Reserve Bank of India.
The hood is in no way controlled or opened by the battery. A hood does not have an electric release. It's a cable operated system.

You have to remove the passenger's seat first by using the ignition key on its left side. Once its opened, you will see a single bolt that you would have to unscrew which is located right at the end of the driver's seat. Once the screw is out, remove the driver's seat. When you see the battery, make sure that you take out the Black plug first and then the Red plug. When you're done recharging plug the Red plug first followed by the Black plug.

To access the battery on a Jaguar XJ8 when the boot cannot be opened due to a flat battery, you can use the manual key to unlock the driver's door. Once inside, you can often access the battery by folding down the rear seats; there may be a release mechanism or pull strap located in the trunk area. If the seats do not provide access, you may need to remove the rear seat or use jumper cables from another vehicle connected to the front battery terminals under the hood, if accessible.
