There are at least two ways. First, you connect the wireless router directly to the cable modem, and then the switch in the wireless router. You have to connect the cable coming from the modem in the wireless router internet port. Second, you connect the wireless router to the switch, again the cable coming from the switch you have to connect on the wireless router internet port. It's better to put the wireless router just after the modem, but it's not required.

Yes unless you want to have to unconnect and reconnect whatever you have plugged into the modem now. It's very simple as I had a Comcast modem also and went to Best buy and Purchased a wireless modem for $80 and later found I could have purchased the same or better equipment cheaper elsewhere. The modem gets plugged into the router and everything else that you need to go online gets plugged into the router or gets set up for wireless connection. I found that the PS3 held the connection perfectly when it was wired and so even though I purchased a wireless router I also purchased a 50 foot Belkin cat 6 gold ethernet cable on Ebay for $20 incl S/H and set up a wired connection.

Information in large computer networks often gets sent over several "hops" - each hop is a router or server, or some equipment with similar capabilities. The "next hop" simply tells you where an information packet will be sent next - say, to which router. This router must then again decide where the information is to be sent.Information in large computer networks often gets sent over several "hops" - each hop is a router or server, or some equipment with similar capabilities. Yes you still need a router t hook up your wireless printer, but it's the same router you have that gives you wireless internet access for your laptop. The router is the Wireless Access Point (WAP) that allows all the wireless devices to connect together and gets it on the wireless system. Ad-HocTo set up the infrastructure, you need a wireless router where the printer can be used in more than one computer wireless and you can also use security levels in the router… in this case the computer can have wireless internet connected while trying to use the printer wireless…For Ad-Hoc the printer can be set up with the computer without a router.., the printer need to be set up once but the connection should be activated every time when you want to print something…- Bennettjdavis
