Is it serious if there are symptoms of stomach ache and fever of 103 in a 5 year old?

Any high fever such as this (over 101F) in a young child five or younger is a serious symptom of something, likely an infection, that needs a medical evaluation. It would be advisable to contact the primary care medical professional who cares for the child to get instructions on whether to meet the provider of health care at the office for a check up or to go to an urgent care center or emergency room. This could be a sign of the current "swine flu" and should be urgently attended.
