Of course it is! 'Vegetarian food' is just the other categories in the food pyramid -- Grains, fruits, vegetables, dairy. There's nothing unhealthy about eating vegetarian. You'll be consuming less saturated fats, which lowers your risk of cardiovascular disease as well. If you're planning on becoming vegetarian; make sure you know enough about what vitamins and minerals you'll be compensating for. If you don't know how to supplement your protein, iron, omega 3,6 and 9; you could end up with problems like low iron or fatigue.

Soy alternatives are a very good source of most of these vitamins, just replace your meat with vegetarian friendly chicken or beef products
