All they need to know is whether an employee is able to perform a job safely and whether an employee has a medical condition that would interfere with work or endanger self or others. They have no right to know what the medical condition might be.

The employee has a right to reveal information for purposes of obtaining accommodation under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), but is not required to do so.
