Sometimes it is better to put it direct into Powerpoint. It depends on how much text and what formatting may be needed. As a general rule, you should not have large amounts of text on one slide, as it can be hard for people to read and be off-putting for the audience watching your presentation. It is better to take key points and put them on the slide and then give more details as you talk to your audience.

Sometimes it is good to plan a show and so you may have initially worked with your text in a word processor, before transferring it to slides in the show. Sometimes the show will have an accompanying document, which will have some of the same text, so you may need to use both applications. Extra detail may be in the word processing document, with just the key points in the show, as mentioned earlier. Some features in the word processor might make it better to work with than doing them in Powerpoint. Text is easier to manage and work on in a word processor, so you could get everything the way you want, and then copy it into Powerpoint.

If you are fairly sure of what you want to do, then it can be easier to work directly with Powerpoint and not use a word processor at all. You can do all your formatting in Powerpoint.

What are some Benefits and drawbacks for creating a PowerPoint presentation versus a PDF presentation?

This is an interesting question. Indeed, I will always start off by creating a PowerPoint rather than a PDF file. You can always convert a PowerPoint file into the PDF format but not the other way around. This will give you more flexibility to change your content in PowerPoint than creating a PDF file in programs like Adobe Illustrator. And, a PowerPoint presentation simply works well for public speaking. You can easily go slide by slide and explain point by point. You can always easily insert movie clips and add animation to make your presentation more interactive. Thus, PowerPoint is clearly the better starting one if your final goal is to do a presentation.

Should a business plan include a PowerPoint presentation?

Often a business plan is not only written, it is also presented - whether to investors, shareholders or fellow employees. Therefore, a Power Point presentation is not a bad idea. But don't jump the gun. Many first-time entrepreneurs mistakenly think they have a choice - to develop their business plan using a word processing or business planning program or to create one using Power Point. Your business plan should always be formatted as a longer, all-inclusive document using a program like Microsoft Word. From there, you can select the major highlights to include as part of a Power Point presentation. Make sure your presentation is effective. Keep in mind who you will be presenting to, timing and how many presenters there will be. And make sure to practice in front of an objective audience before giving the presentation.

Why would you need to test a PowerPoint presentation before presenting it?

Powerpoint presentations can have lots of complexities in them. If you are going to give a presentation in front of a group of people you need to know that the presentation will work properly. Things like timings, animations working correctly, slides being in the correct sequence, being able to read all the text clearly, having no spelling mistakes, having no errors in the facts you are presenting and many other things need to be checked. For all of these reasons and many others, you should always test a presentation before you use it in front of an audience. It will not look good if something goes wrong, and it would be very embarrassing for you. So always check your presentation, and even get a friend or someone independent to have a look at it.

Do PowerPoint accepts information in the form of files from a variety of sources such as Microsoft Access?

Data can be imported from other applications and displayed in Powerpoint. Data can be presented in tables that could have come from other applications, such as Excel, Access or Word. Links can enable the data in the presentation to always be up to date, so when the other files change, the presentation will have the most up to date data. Powerpoint can show the actual data in the files, or just have links to the files on the slides that the user can clidk on to open the files.

How can the slide show be repeated continuously?

If you want your Microsoft Powerpoint Presentation to always show the slideshow whenever opened what you should do is create a Powerpoint Slide Show.Save your Powerpoint Presentation you will want to keep your filename.ppt file in case you need to make any adjustments or edits to the slideshow at a later date. A Slide Show (.pps) file cannot be edited directly.Save your Powerpoint as a Slide Show go to File > Save As > PowerPoint Show (If you use Office 2007 you will need to click the Windows Icon at the top if you do not show the menu options by default). Choose a file name for your PowerPoint show. It will be a separate file from your .ppt but contain the exact same information.Open your Powerpoint Show and enjoy! Mail out your filename.pps to everyone and they'll automatically see your slideshow presentation the way you wanted it to be seen!
