Unlikely, since the P-50 never entered service. However, the myth persists that the 332d Fighter Group sank a German destroyer although, depending on who you listen to, it was done with P-40s, P-47s or P-51s.
The fact is that there were no German destroyers operating in the Mediterranean Sea to be sunk.
The Redtails did strafe, damage and drive ashore the German TA22 (ex WWI Italian "destroyer" Giuseppe Missori, built 1914 - actually a large torpedo boat - a 740 ton craft that was no longer capable of performing significant surface combat).
