An insulator prevents heat from being transferred. Good insulators include, wood, rubber, air and anything like loft insulation that contains a lot of air. Heat itself is not an insulator.

What is the difference between an insulator and a good conductor of heat?

Insulator is a substance that does not allow heat to pass through it example air. conductor is a substance that allows heat to pass through it example metal.

What is an example of an object that doesn't transfer heat easily?

The answer for that question is an insulator.

A material that is not a good conductor of heat is a called an?

Insulator, same as for electricity. An example of insulators (of heat) is Styrofoam.

Is a oven an example of an insulator?

Uh...No. And neither is a toaster. An insulator is something like cardboard or reflective foil, it keeps the heat in and the cold out :)

Is potato an insulator of heat?

a potato is not an heat insulator because it's skin, but if you take the skin off it will be a heat insulator

What is a science insulator?

An insulator is an object that does not conduct (allow something to flow through it). It is used typically in heat or electricity applications. For example, insulation in a house, keeps heat from escaping outside.

Is sponge a good heat insulator?

it is good heat insulator, as it has air in it. as air is a good insulator of heat, the sponge, which has lots of pockets of air also becomes a good insulator

Is a good heat conductor a good insulator?

It really depends. Glass, for example, does a fair job at conducting heat, but it is an insulator to electricity, which is why it is usually used for the insulators on power lines. Metal, on the other hand, is usually a conductor of electricity, and a conductor of heat as well, so it depends.

Is a toaster an example of a insulator?

an insulator.

Is graphite a heat conductor or insulator?

insulator

What a insulator?

An insulator is something that keeps heat in, for example, if you put a piece of fake fur around a mug of Hot Chocolate, it would act as an insulator, and would keep the heat in the mug. x if u eant insulator..then it means a poor heat conducto, or poor conductor of electricity ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Materials that do not easily give up or take on electrons are called insulators.

What is an example of an insulator?

A2. Insulation is a process of separating one thing from another. Materials for this are called insulators. Commonly we may insulate against the transfer of Heat, Electricity, and Sound or vibration. An Electrical insulator could be glass. Or most plastics.A Heat insulator could be a vacuum, such as in a vacuum flask. Or a loose material such as fibreglass wool.A Sound insulator is normally something of massive properties, such as gypsum wallboard, or concrete. The plastic covering on wire is a perfect example of an insulator.
