In a human being, absolutely. The liver is the only organ that can re-generate itself so there are two options for transplant. 1. a living donor gives a small part of their liver (which grows back in a few months) to a patient that has had their own diseased liver removed, (the piece of the liver put into the patient who has had their liver removed grows and therefore it is as if the patient had an entire liver given to them). Sometimes the patient cannot use this option, so they must receive an entire liver from a deceased donor.
Yes, that is true. Drug treatments serve to negate some of the symptoms, but do not offer a "cure" as such.
Liver transplants can benefit patients with advanced cirrhosis. However, the new liver will eventually become diseased unless the underlying cause of cirrhosis is removed
Once a liver has developed cirrhosis, there is no way to reverse the damage. The only "cure" for cirrhosis is liver transplant.
You do not die from cirrhosis of the liver. However, cirrhosis of the liver makes the liver susceptible to cancer. You die from cancer. The worse the cirrhosis, the greater the chance of cancer. If the cirrhosis is alcohol related, if you stop drinking immediately, it is possible to reverse it. Your liver can produce chemicals that dissolve the cirrhosis. Alcohol destroys those chemicals. Your liver constantly produces chemicals that make it heal itself. Alcohol destroys those chemicals.
Cirrhosis is the last stage of liver failure; the liver is primarily scar tissue by the cirrhotic stage. This is not curable, as once the liver is scar tissue, it stays scar tissue. It is true that the liver "regenerates itself", but only to a certain extent. If there are not enough healthy cells to regenerate (which there aren't by the cirrhotic stage), or the speed of regeneration does not exceed the speed of degeneration, then liver function will become worse and worse. This is why cirrhosis is not curable/reversible. (The treatment "cure" is a liver transplant, which is essentially the same as saying that "the cure for baldness is hair" - it doesn't really fix the underlying problem, but it does provide a solution).
Cirrhosis is the final stage of liver disease (before death). There is only one level of cirrhosis, which is "bad", since cirrhosis is progressive and non-reverisble. The stage before cirrhosis is called "fibrosis", which you could classify is "not as bad".
The common cold is the only disease that has no cure,* based on the Star Trek database.* All other diseases are curable, on it's medical database, including cancer and liver Cirrhosis.
She died of cirrhosis of the liver in 1973 at only 45 years of age.
It means that the liver structure is scarred and has fiber like substances in it. It is the final stage before cirrhosis of the liver happens and can be dangerous if cirrhosis happens. The only treatment is to avoid alcohol and medications because they damage the liver.
Cirrhosis of the liver involves irreversible damage. The only treatment is abstaining from alcohol, and supporting liver function by not stressing it in other ways. It is possible to live for long periods with liver damage, provided that it is not too far advanced.
Research suggests that sulphasalazine may reverse the scarring of liver cirrhosis.
Biopsy. It is the only way to make a certain diagnosis of cirrhosis, although many clinical signs, laboratory findings, and imaging findings are pathognomonic of cirrhosis.
Ye it can of a slow and pain full death i am going to die on my birth day 25/9/96 and im only 12
Stem cell or bone marrow transplants are the only cure for sickle cell disease
