First and foremost, I want to make it very clear that one does not try to get the Medal of Honor, but rather it is awarded to them for incredibly brave acts above and beyond the Call of Duty. If a Marine throws themselves on a grenade then they are doing it to protect their fellow marines, not to try to get the Medal of Honor or any other medal for that matter. If a Marine or any other service memeber does something heroic, they are doing it to protect their fellow servicemen/women or to save innocent lives, they never do it to try to get medals.
