Not really. Some of mine stay right by me, even sitting or lying on my feet. Others just want to stay in the same room and check in periodically. Each is an individual. As a breed, however, German Shepherds do have a strong sense of loyalty and a high pack drive. A mentally sound one won't be distressed if you leave them, but will generally prefer to be in your company when given the opportunity.
A German Shepherd can keep the same pace a lot longer than human. If a person can run an hour non stop so can a German Shepherd, easily. That articular breed just wouldn't stop out of tiredness, they would run along side their master as they would in the wild after their alpha.
The Belgian Tervuren is more squarely built than the German Shepherd, has a longer coat, is lighter of foot, greater overall speed and has smaller ears. The German Shepherd has a louder bark, longer tail and has a more sloping top line than the Belgian Tervuren. The Belgian Tervuren's coat always has black tipped guard hairs. The German Shepherd tends to shed more frequently. There is also a size difference being that the German Shepherd is slightly larger and longer than the Tervuren. Once you see them side by side, the differences are very apparent and you will never mistake a Terv for a German Shepherd. I believe the Belgian Tervuren is a more serious herder and is probably not as good with children because he tends to chase and nip in order to keep them in line but this is just a general observation. Both are great dogs!
I need some further information on scoorpion mark and where it is . What do I look for ? It is a real dark mark on the back of the tongue. My dog has one on the rear right side of her tongue. Hitler would not own a German shepherd that did not have this mark. Around nine months old it will start to appear and at a year it is very dark.

German Shepherd's are a pedigree breed meaning they are not a mix. However, Columella said that the ancient dog were a white colour but the Pyrenean Mountain Dog was descended from these. Other herding dogs had different colours of grey and grizzled hinting here wasn't a specific breed. Across the regional landscape of Germany Shepherd's bred a wide variety of dogs to herd their sheep with no uniformity of size, color, or shape, except for what was common for their particular region. The only real interest was that herding dogs be physically and mentally sound so they could work tirelessly, competently and faithfully along side the shepherd. This was the landscape seen by Max Von Stephanitz, the recognized father of the modern German Shepherd Dog breed, in the 1880s. Founding of the Modern German Shepherd Dog Breed in Germany. Hence, the Shepherd was produced from these types.
