Let me answer your question with another question. Is it worth telling the police about the disgusting content on 4chan? Is it worth telling the police about people who expose themselves on chat roulette? Is it worth telling the police that people make fake twitter accounts like SarrahPalinU5A or GE0RGEBUSH? No. So why would you bother telling the police about someone on facebook? It's the internet, not the census.

Unfortunately no you can't sue anyone for doing that!
Gossip usually starts by someone telling someone something, that person telling another person, that person telling another and so on. As the story is being passed on, people change it a little, sort of like in whisper down the lane.
You get votes on the Facebook poll, by telling your friends to vote for you.
Aside from actually telling someone to 'like' your status, perhaps you could post things that they can relate to or that they also appreciate.

Well, Try contacting facebook and telling them.
Ask Facebook
On Facebook if you respond to a post you will continue to receive a notification when someone else posts a comment or likes the same post. By checking the unfollow post option you are essentially telling Facebook that you do not want to receive notifications of the responses to the post any longer.
Because you don't exist
Not unless the website your telling them about is illegal. If you recommend an illegal webstie to someone it encourages crime which is illegal.
