Some Christians get quite upset when anyone has a Buddha statue in their home, many Christians have such decorations, so there is obviously some division of opinion.

The "against" side probably feels such statues fall under the category of idols "No other gods before me" and the "shall not bow down and worship them" admonitions. Since even Buddhists do not have Buddha as an object of worship and have no gods, there is no reason that Christians would do either of these things.

On the "for" side. A statue of a Buddha can be an aesthetic element in the home, it an be a good luck charm like a rabbit's foot taken to a bingo game, or it an be a reminder that some people have found quite mode of life that suggests following moral principles. None of these should be offensive to anyone.

It is hard to imagine why any of the for or against viewpoints would make it"wrong" to have a statue of the Buddha in a home.

It really depends on your intent. Do you have some appreciation for Gautama Buddha's and/or other buddhists' ideals of respect for all life, peace for all living beings, and desire for everyone to be free from self-inflicted entrapments? Do you think it's just a quaint piece of kitsch that will make your home look hip? Do you just like the way it looks?

It's not that any buddha would be particularly offended however you answer, especially not a Zen buddha. But the answer could be important to you and the effect of having a buddha statue in your home. This could be an opportunity to find out more about the fundamental ideals of a buddha, and how you might find them inspirational in your own religious worship.

That said, there's many different types of Buddhism and buddhists. This is my own answer as someone continually practicing 'living Zen'. There's always the possibility that someone will feel you're disrespecting their own heritage, but so long as you treat it with respect, I doubt your guests or visitors will take offense.

Anyone can put whatever they want in the way of statuary in their garden. No one should be compelled to do so. If the garden owner lives in a strongly intolerant Christian community this may offend some of the neighbours.

Where do you place a Buddha for good luck?

Put it in Your Living Room with his own place surrounded by some Good luck Figures The main rule for placing a Buddha properly is to give him a lofty perch, such as a mantle, raised platform or tall shelving unit. He should also not be surrounded by meaningless clutter and geegaws. Enhance your thinking by placing Buddha on a desk where you normally do your writing, reporting, creating or other brain activity. He can sit on a raised platform near your printer, next to your computer or in your artist studio, as long as you don't paint on him. Give your garden a boost with your Buddha statue gazing out over your lawn and flowers. Your Buddha statue can bring enhanced growth by channeling the positive energy of the universe throughout your landscaping. Make sure, however, that your Buddha is an outdoor version if you choose this option so he doesn't crack and rot in the sun.Have your whole house swirling with positive Buddha energy by giving him a throne in the middle of your home. Any central area will do, as long as he's not obstructing any pathways, which will block the flow of energy and may make you stub your toe, or is crammed off to the side so he's not properly honored.
