To a degree, you can't really help who you like. What is wrong is to hate other people, particularly if they never harmed you first. It is okay if you will never be best friends with gay people, and you should never beat yourself up over that. However, do try to be polite and civil with them. Most are just trying to live their own lives, and they are not out to ruin yours.
