John Cena losing the belt to Edge and getting slammed into the big spotlight by The Big Show is just the storyline to back Cena taking some more time off.
I do not know the reason he is taking time off BUT we have to remember that Cena is supposed to be getting married at the end of this year (2009) to Liz. So he might be taking the time off to prepare... it is already May!
