When it merges into the absolute as such there is no difference between Shakti and Shiva, the Supreme Absolute
And the Supreme Absolute is none other than the Self
The Yoga-Kundalini Upanishad matters in Kundalini yoga because it gives the practice a clear source and a clear order. Kundalini is described in this tradition as energy held at the base of the spine. The text explains how that energy is worked with through the body, the breath and the mind, rather than treated as a vague idea. That is why teachers still point students to it when they want to understand what a kriya, a bandha or a breath practice is meant to do. In practice, the Upanishad connects several parts that are often taught separately. It covers asana for a steady seat, pranayama for control of breath, and the bandhas, mula bandha, uddiyana bandha and jalandhara bandha, which are used to direct attention and energy upward through the central channel. It also discusses the chakras, from muladhara at the base to sahasrara at the crown, and the role of meditation and mantra in settling the mind. Read alongside the Patanjali Yoga Sutras and the Hatha Yoga Pradipika, it helps a student see how posture, breath, cleansing and meditation fit into one system. That order is also a safety point. Kundalini practice is strong, so it is usually taught step by step, with a teacher, in a steady daily routine, and not rushed. A good teacher training will teach the text, the kriyas, the breath work and the philosophy together, and will give students time to practise teaching in a simple, clear way. Beginners should learn the basic breath, bandha and meditation work first, and only move to stronger practices when the teacher advises it.
