Generally, no. But everyone is different. If you have a heart problem, for example, or other medical problems (even ones you don't know about) losing weight that quickly can complicate them. While losing that much weight in a short amount of time seems wonderful, also remember that usually with that rapid of a weight loss, you are losing water and muscle, not fat. When you gain it back, however, you're usually replacing that loss muscle with even more fat. If you've already lost the weight and want to maintain it, look into weight training. It will get your muscle mass back up again. An increase in muscle mass burns fat.

There is no way to do that natural. Most have a tough time losing just 5# in 1 week. Give it more time and be realistic in your goals.

User Avatar

No...a reasonable and safe goal is a pound a week...if you are just now starting a workout...max I would say would be about 15 lbs in 26 days

That is a very rapid rate of weight loss, over a pound a day. It is not really feasible or advisable. Unless you are several hundreds of pounds overweight, not really achievable without doing permanent damage to your body. You would be surprised at how much just losing 16 pounds can make to your health and your looks. That would be two pounds a week, which is pretty reasonable.

Yes, but it will just be water weight you're losing, not fat.

In men, at 5'6" you are considered overweight (in pounds) between 165 & 186; you are considered obese at 192 and up. Unhealthy BMIs are between 25 & 50. Of course, these numbers do not reflect your overall health. If your weight doesn't get in your way and doesn't leave you breathless just from walking to the mailbox, you are probably fine. There is, of course, no harm in losing a few pounds, only benefits. Don't let the numbers scare you, they are just that: numbers.

I just came back from the cardiologist, thinking Im in pretty good shape. I'm 5"3 and 130 pounds. He told me ideal weight for me would be 115, so I could add 10 pounds to that , which would be 125. So I guess I have to get to work losing 5 pounds. No your fine It just matters about your height.Don't let people tell you you are cause your not.:)

No. It's also for endurance, toning one's muscles, and cardio (heart) health. It also may provide a good feeling (endorphins).

Just about any diet that is out there can be geared towards health. In fact, most diets are, they're just portrayed to help you lose weight so people are more apt to try them out over other diets.
