It depends on what you mean by low. You need to check your filter's manual, and see what level it SHOULD be. Lower than that, usually means you are losing sand into the pool (you'll know!) or when you backwash (because the pump is too big for the filter.)

If you are losing sand, you need to correct the cause and then add more sand, after you've resolved the problem.

Sand dollar pool filters what causes low presurecomimg from filter?

Plugged pump, very dirty filter. Do you actually mean the filter or the pump. Filter is big tank. Pump is small unit with motor attached.

Can the psi on my pool pump be too low?

The psi on your pool pump indicates how much dirt there is in the filter, the cleaner the filter the lower the psi. normally when the filter is clean you wil have a low psi and as the filter gets dirtier it will rise. However if the psi suddenly becomes much lower then usual it may indicate a fault in the filtration is letting unfiltered water circulate back into the pool as in a torn filter cartridge.

How do you prevent sand from leaking into pool?

It sounds like the lateral pipes in your sand filter are broken or you have too much sand in the filter. When we first got our pool I vacuumed with the filter on backwash. I found sand settled in the steps when I turned it back on to filter. I was later told by my pool store that you vacuum on waste and then use rinse before turning back on to filter. That stopped my problem except for dirty feet getting into the pool! both previous answers are correct to a point. the laterals or stand pipe could be cracked or broken' vacume on filter and then when finised backwash well and then rinse for aprox. 30 to 40 seconds and then go back to filer. make sure you rinse before going back to filter. Don't forget to turn off the pump before rotating the back wash valve! K

Why is pool pressure low?

Don't possibly know why you could be loosing pressure on the pool. However you may be loosing pressure in the line to the pool from the filter. If you are also loosing suction then : there is not enough water in the pool and the skimmer is sicking air. bad pump seal loose pump lid bad o-ring seal at pump lid loose fittings in and out of the pump. that is the piece of equip. that has the motor attached. The filter is the large tank. The pool is the vessel that is holding all the water. You can also lose pressure if your skimmer and your pump baskets are filled with debris, kink in the hoses, or your filter needs to be cleaned, or filter sand or cartridge needs replaced. You also may be thinking of pressure as in the force of the water coming out of the return jets. If this is the case, then your filter has become dirty and the water can't pass thru it very well. Clean your filter.

Can you raise a low side for a pool with sand?

We did just that. I bought a small above ground pool for the kids last summer (15' diameter) and our yard wasn't level. Digging in the red clay proved impossible so we decided that instead of trying to lower the high end we'd raise the low end with sand. We bought mortar sand, not play sand, and spread it in the area that needed to be raised. Once you add water to the sand it stays in place very well. So well, in fact, that even after the pool was taken down the sand still stayed in place for months. The pool held up the entire summer but the cost of the sand was about as much as I spent on the pool (about $200).

Are DE filters really better than sand filters in high debris areas?

I am no expert, but I started with a used above ground pool and a DE filter. The DE filter caused me nothing but grief, poor circulation, way too much bumping and replacing the DE powder. I now have a sand filter and it is a breeze. My pool is under a tree, so there is plenty of debris, but that's what the skimmer is for. You need to keep that cleaned out no matter what kind of filter you have.Yes and No- the answer is personal and dependent on weather you prefer cheaper esaiser ownership, or cleaner water with more cost and maintenance.De is a better filter medium, but at the expense of consuming and replacing the filter media each backflush. A sand filter will go down to 10 microns. DE filters down to 2 microns, but the flush process removes your DE from the filter grids and you need to replace it per flush. This process is messy and a bit more time consuming and as a result most De filter go longer between backflushes than their sand counterparts.Backflushing a sand filter more often to keep pressure low is easier in that the process does not remove the sand filter media like DE.

How do you increase pressure for a pool vacuum with a sand filter?

Is this pressure of water going in a filter or pressure of water coming out a filter? Do you mean increase the flow of water? An increase in the filter pressure alone without going to a larger size impeller or newer pump will only indicate that the filter is getting dirty. If you need more flow consider changing the impeller or even upgrading the pump BUT you have to know what the outcome of that change will be. You have to know what the hydraulics and pump curve is in order to keep from overpumping the water. Too much flow can be detremental to the plumbing, the pump, the heater. Going to a large size pump most likely now increase your flow if the pipes can not handle that extra flow of water. Sometimes whrn a pump is not sized properly - going to a smaller size pump or impeller - whichever the case may be - will increase the flow of water or GPM. There is a is a trick or formula for sizing pool pumps, filters and heaters to a particular pool.

How do you fix low stabilizer in your pool and low pH low alkalinity?

make sure chlorine is is at 1-3ppm, if pH is very low raise chlorine slightly higer than average. shock the pool after and run filter for over night. If pool still not stabilize then add PH high chemical.

How do i Get rid of algae in an empty pool?

Algae dust that comes from the algae fairy right? Anyway the best way to get rid of the algae skeletons (as one of my customers calls it) is to vacuum them directly out of the pool bypassing the filter. The problem is that these dead algae spores are too small for the filter to pick up so they end up going right through the filter. The best way to vacuum them out depends on what type of filter you have: SAND FILTER-Use the waste or drain position on the valve to vacuum your pool this will effectively remove the algae from the pool. You will have to refill the water you drain out of the pool when you are done. DO NOT COMPLETLEY DRAIN THE POOL. If the water gets to low stop and refill before you continue. D.E. FILTER-If you have a multiport (this valve will have at least 4 positions on it) valve on the filter put the valve in the waste position just like with the sand filter above. You will have to refill the water you drain out of the pool when you are done. DO NOT COMPLETLEY DRAIN THE POOL. If the water gets to low stop and refill before you continue. If you don't have a valve to backwash or you have a backwash valve that only allows you to filter or backwash then you have a difficult situation. The best thing to do is get an extra pump to use to vacuum the pool separate from the filter system. The other option is to plug all the return lines where the water comes back to the pool then remove the filter grids (if you have a grid filter) and open the drain valve on the filter and turn the pump on to vacuum the pool. Make sure that you have the water directed away from your filter system and your house. CARTRIDGE FILTER-Here you have a real problem if you have an in ground pool and about the only way you will get rid of the problem is to get a portable pump (or a separate pump) and vacuum the pool with this pump discharging the water out of the pool along with the algae dust. If you have an above ground pool you can plug the return and the skimmer. Then remove the filter cartridge from the filter. Reassemble the filter without the cartridge then where the water comes back into the pool take the hose connected to that fitting off the side of the wall of the pool and directed the hose away from the pool, filter system and your house. Then turn the pump on and vacuum the pool until the algae dust is gone. DO NOT COMPLETLEY DRAIN THE POOL. If the water gets to low stop and refill before you continue. FYI _ Cartridge filter they sell this bag that goes over your skimmer basket it cost like 8 dollars and it filters all of the algea into it so you dont have to drain the pool.

How do you flush out a laars xe pool heater if you don't seem to be getting a good flow through the heater?

The problem is not the heater. When was the last time that you cleaned the pool filter? Low or no water flow - no heat. Low flow = dirty filter or plugged pump or skimmer baskets. Ken

What is the normal gauge pressure for a 16' x 30' ingroung pool?

It could be as low as 8, or 10, 12, the pressure could even be lower depending on your filter size, the lower the pressure the cleaner your filter media is the higher the pressure say 17, then you need to back wash or change the media, if you are not using sand.

You have only about half pressure on your pool pump?

Usually the pressure gauge on your pool equipment indicates how much pressure there is before the filter. as the pressure goes up it indicates that the filter is getting blocked and needs a backwash or cleaning. while the pressure is low the filter does not need cleaning.
