Yes and no. It is still around, but it is not as widespread as other diseases like TB, Blackleg or BRD. Many countries in other parts of the world are fortunate to not have BSE in their country (from what I know.)

∙ 11y agoBovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE, the scientific name for mad cow disease) is actually waning - the number of cases around the world have dropped to almost zero. Currently the world records just a handful of cases of spontaneous BSE (which is expected to occur at very low levels but is not infectious or a problem for humans).
