What does it mean when someone in your family has a bomb and you are in the same place as the relative with the bomb?

Making and having bombs are legal offences. You need to report to the police as soon as possible so that you do not become an accomplice of your relative.

What can you do about a false police report?

YOU, as an individual, can't do anything except cooperate with the investigation and with evidence, reason and an alibi, if you are innocent, the police will come to the same conclusion.

Me and my friends got charged by the police for the same thing and one went to jail and he got a report from the police which had my social security number available for him to read. Is this illegal?

Not nearly enough information is known about the circumstances to make a determination. What kind of report is being referred to? How did your co-defendant get it? Did his defense counsel give it to him? Generally police investigative reports are not released unless court ordered. More information is necessary. However, as a general statement - Social Security numbers are not all that uncommon. Many states still use them as their drivers license number - Medicare cards use the same number - hospitals and medical care providers use them to identify patients - etc - etc.

How do private police different from public police?

"Private police" is the same used by some private security forces, e.g. security guards. They usually have no police powers. They can't serve warrants, make arrests on probable cause, or make traffic stops. "Public police" are employed by governmental or quasi-governmental agencies such as cities, counties, states, colleges, public hospitals, etc.

Is the driver of a car responsible to give her insurance info to an injured passenger of the same car?

No, but the passenger can readily get that info from the police report on request. If no report was made, that same passenger can have their own insurance company get the information based on DMV records.

How can neighbors deal with neighborhood thugs legally?

Get witnesses and pictures of events happening and report them to police. Also get neighbors to do the same so there are multiple complaints from different people who see the same thing. Call your police department and get them to commit to solving the problem. There are things the police can do such as zero tolerance and routine contacts with the thugs.

What is the security guard?

Contrary to popular belief, Security Officers do have authority, and in many cases they have just as much, if not more authority than a Police Officer. Security Officers are basically private police and in the olden days they were often referred to as this (ex: Coal Mine Police). A security company is contracted out by a client to protect 'usually' private property, so therefore they are the police of that property. This is why Security Officers often have more authority than Police Officers. Police have very limited authority on private property unless a warrant is issued by a judge. Also, in many states security companies will be contracted out by local governments to police their public areas. For example; in South Carolina every Security Officer has as much authority as a Police Officer and have the right to issue speeding tickets, arrests, etc. They also use blue lights on their vehicles instead of the usual yellow lights used by most Security Officers around the country. Security Officers often have serious, dangerous jobs much like police officers and they are here to accomplish the same goal which is to keep people, and property safe. So next time you want to bash a Security Officer; think twice.

What is the security guards authority?

Security guards have the authority to enforce rules and regulations set by their employer at the premises they are assigned to protect. They can detain individuals for questioning, request identification, and escort trespassers off the property. However, they do not have the same legal authority as law enforcement officers and cannot make arrests or carry out investigations.

Why do police take money they find in a drug bust for themselves and only report part of it and are completely dishonest?

Are insurance companies required to go by the police report?

An insurance company will consider the police report, but its contents are usually not determinative. In part, this is because the policy officer is not a witness to the occurrence, but comes only after the fact. Therefore, that which is contained in the police report is essentially "hearsay". Instead, an insurer will usually conduct its own investigation into an occurrence for which a first or third-party claim is made. In fact, if the insured disputes that which the police report shows, the insurer has an obligation to further investigate, take statements, and to otherwise make its own determinations. By the same token, an insurer has the obligation to treat the claimant fairly and justly.
