Contray to the belief, the medulla oblongata in a structre of the brain stem that contols autonomic functiopns like respiration, blood pressure, cardiac function, various bodily secretions, swallowing, coordintaion of body movement and reflexes. The medulla oblongata helps in the transferring of messages between various parts of the brain and the spinal cord.

I believe the correct structure that controls emotions is the amygdala.
