Yes, it is. But it's already extinct.
It WAS real. Although there are some people who believe that megalodon sharks could still exist, in the deepest parts of the ocean, most scientists believe that they went extinct millions of years ago.
Megalodon was about 50 to 60 feet long on average, although some may have grown to 100 feet. For comparison, the great white shark today (the closest living relative of megalodon) grows to an average of around 12 to 16 feet, although some can grow as long as 25 feet.

Megeldon is the real shark.
Yes the Megalodon was a real shark but is now extinct.
The below is incorrect, even if you take megalodon out of the picture, the basking shark and whale shark are larger than the great white. However, if you believe the 7 inch shark teeth as evidence, then the megalodon was the largest shark. But it went extinct about 1.5 million years ago. The Great White Shark. People think it is a Megalodon, but that is incorrect. There is no proof that a Megalodon is real, so for now it is the Great White.
The megalodon
People still believe that there might still be a giant shark out there. But the megalodon was a shark everyone hopes is extinct!, I know I do haha :P
