Currently, the largest memory for a DS (Digital Secure) memory card is 128 GB. Secure digital is a non volatile memory card format for use in in portable devices, such as mobile phones, digital cameras, and tablet computers.
If you insert a DDR2 memory card into a slot that usually holds a DDR memory card, the card will not be recognized by the system and a message will appear stating that there is an error with the memory card. Please do not insert memory cards into non-matching slots, you may damage the system. If your system does not become damaged as a result of poor memory card reading, your DDR2 card will simply only act as a DDR card and not make full use of the DDR2 capabilities.
The R4 doesn't hold memory, it's the MicroSD card that you insert into the R4DS that has storage. It will support MicroSD cards with storage of up to 2GB (non-SDHC).

Those memory card slots on Minolta cameras for READING (not for writing) cards that comes preloaded with Minolta's different exposure modes that we set by turning a dial in modern cameras (with a built-in memory). So, the answer to your question is you can insert a memory card into that slot but you won't be able to save the pictures on it like a digital camera.
Size - is the main difference. A 'standard memory card is approximately 25mm square. A micro SD card is about a third of the size. There are adaptors available so you can use a micro SD card in a standard SD card slot.
