In the Metroid games, Samus (the woman controlled by the player) uses a special suit given to her by an ancient race. The suit materializes over her, including the cannon. She holds her hand in different positions to control what kind of beam/missle she fires. If you play Metroid Prime, you can actually use the xray visor to see her operating it.

Check the extractor pin that latches onto the rim of the shell to pull it out. I just was diagnosing mine and found the tip of it broke right off. It should be a fairly long little arm with a hook on the end attached to the action of the gun.

It depends on what you did with the gun and what your local laws stipulate.
Capitalism has nothing to do with the right to carry a gun.
The earliest known gun is a hand gonne, which was a kind of a small cannon on a stick that was fired by touching the flash hole with a lit fuse held in the free hand. It was replaced by a matchlock which had the fuse on a pivoting arm attached to the gun. This was replaced by flintlocks, and eventually percussion locks.
Uncommon, but yes.
